Installation and Setup

 
 Configuring the echo
 
  
  • To set-up an echo with a ReQuest server, power off the iQ IMS or F.Series.
  • Connect the echo to power and to one of the rear USB ports of the IMS or F.series.  Insert a ReQuest hard drive into the echo with version 4.1.1 or later installed.
  • Make sure to lock the hard drive with the supplied key to engage the drive (Turning key in lock 90º clockwise).
 
  • Power on the echo with the power switch on the back of the unit and then power on the iQ IMS or F.Series.
    • Note: After booting with an echo attached for the first time, the echo should automatically start its initial synchronization backup.
   To check on the iQ IMS or F.Series:
  •  Go to the “Menu” (flash movie or LCD)
  •  Select “Advanced”
  •  Select "Sync echo Now"
  •  Select "Yes"
  •  The echo should now be syncing.

 
 Swapping Drives in the Case of a Failed Server Drive

  • Power off the IMS or F.series by pressing the front power button (under the faceplate of the server) and wait until the unit is powered down.
  • Power off the echo with the power switch on the back of the echo unit.
  • Remove the failed hard drive from the IMS or F.series. (Turning key in lock 90º counter-clockwise)
  • Remove the working hard drive from the echo. (Turning key in lock 90º counterclockwise)
  • Insert echo hard drive into the IMS or F.series, and lock it. (Turning key in lock 90º clockwise)
  • Power up the IMS or F.series.
  • Call ReQuest Customer Service and arrange an RMA for the failed hard drive.
  • When you receive an echo replacement hard drive from ReQuest:
    • Power off the IMS or F.series by pressing the front power button (under the face plate of the server) and wait until the unit is completely off.
    • Power off the echo with the power switch on the back of the echo unit.
    • Insert replacement hard drive in the echo, and lock it. (Turning key in lock 90º counter-clockwise)
    • Power on the IMS or F.series and the echo.
    • When the server is booted:
      • Go to the “Menu” (flash movie or LCD)
      • Select “Advanced”
      • Select "Sync echo Now"
      • Select "Yes"
      • The echo should now be syncing.
