Legacy Control and More
The Network IR Extender (NIRE) expands iQ control to infrared devices. Sources including satellite TV tuners, cable boxes, and CD changers are easily added to iQ and controlled by pre-programmed interfaces that appear instantly on iQ touchscreens throughout the house. More sophisticated than standard infrared control devices, the NIRE utilizes Ethernet protocols to provide infrared control to sources anywhere in the house. System control is extended to any local source, such as satellite receivers or cable boxes, that are positioned with their televisions and not in an equipment rack. Another great advantage of the NIRE design and the network backbone of the iQ system is the ability to support an unlimited number of NIRE devices in a house.
The NIRE is a model for installation ease. Automatically detected by an iQ server and added to the iQ system configuration, the only steps to complete the installation are telling the iQ what device is being controlled and positioning the infrared emitter on that device. The ever expanding built-in library provides infrared codes for the most commonly used devices in a variety of categories. Devices not included can be added by inputting standard infrared codes.
Taking advantage of the network intelligence resident in the iQ, the Network IR Extender greatly eases the typical installation complexity while increasing the options for infrared control in a whole house audio system.
